Outsourcing the Internal Audit Process

Is it getting harder and harder to complete your internal audits?
Have audit team members left the company or been lost due to staff reduction?
Or are your auditors burnt out, don't have the same energy or enthusiasm for the process?

According to a recent article in Quality Digest the primary reason why a company may choose to outsource its internal auditing function is that it will be more cost-effective. A company must weigh the financial aspects of training and maintaining in-house personnel against what the future might hold for the company as well as the changing priorities for the employee, such as retirement, relocation, or the scope of the job.

Although an external auditor may be more expensive by the hour, when one considers the costs of training and maintaining an internal auditor, the costs of the external resource are actually lower overall, and the quality can be at least as good as an internal resource”.

We have found that outsourcing the ISO internal audit program, allows the business to re-deploy internal resources while ensuring the continual improvement of their registered management systems in a cost effective manner.  Our ISO consultants can provide the necessary expertise to help organizations keep their management systems robust and improving.

We offer services to ensure that your ISO Internal Audits are completed regardless of conflicting internal priorities. The level of our involvement depends on your requirements. With auditors trained and certified in ISO 9000, AS 9100, ISO 13485, ISO 17025, ISO 14001, TS 16949, you can be assured you are getting:

  • Objective auditing
  • The ‘Process approach’
  • Efficiency – an MOCG auditor will typically complete an internal audit in half the time of company trained auditors
  • Comprehensive reporting of positive and negative findings
  • Opportunities for Improvement
  • Consulting advice, only if desired

Internal Audit Management Options

For Internal audits to be a benefit to your company, they must be treated as important by the people planning, conducting and reporting the audits. They must be done regularly, consistently, and professionally. When this is not possible with internal resources, your Internal Audits should be outsourced.  Continuing with a broken system will only hurt the reputation of the documented Management System making conformance and benefits from registration harder and harder to obtain.

Depending upon the resources you have available and your specific needs we have three service level options to choose from.

Audit Process Owner
With this service level MOCG will act as your Internal Audit Process Owner, we will coordinate, schedule and perform all of your internal audits, perform follow-up audits, provide consulting assistance where appropriate, maintain all documentation, and meet with the Registrar during registration and surveillance audits as appropriate.

Audit Team
With this service level, MOCG will act as your Internal Audit team, you will schedule the audits and we will perform them, reporting on the findings and performing follow up audits.

Supplemental
With this level of service, we will perform the audits you assign to us. Often used by smaller organizations to ensure the auditor internally does not audit his or her own work, or to supplement your audit team.

  • Non-ISO or custom audits, where you determine the scope and our team comes in and audits the project, job, work center to ensure conformance to requirements.
